It was good to go back to the beginning and trace the increasing anarchy of the series. It has several laugh out loud moments mixed with pathos. Leave your logic behind and simply go with the flow.

Seriously people, open your minds. If you are one of the people saying series 1&2 are great and 3 is awful you probably do not understand the humour in any of them.
I love series 3, best yet. Darker, funnier (more intelliegent humour, more 'subtle' jokes and of course good old fashoined sketches). Some say the ending is sad, I think it is actually happy. I won't spoil it for people yet to buy the series - so buy it!

The first ever television mini-series was broadcast as 12 x 50 minute episodes in the U.K., either side of 'News At Ten' on three consecutive Wednesday and Friday nights throughout July, in that summer, of 1976. It was ITV's answer to the BBC's coverage of the Olympics at the time-and what an answer!
The story of Rudy & Tom Jordache...two brothers who battled through their conflicting lifestyles in two different ways. Based on the best-selling novel by Irwin Shaw, we are taken on a roller-coaster ride starting in Port Philip, New York in 1945 through to the French Riviera in the mid-60's. A classic tale of Rags to Riches and Happiness to Heartbreak.
This double box set includes the final episodes of Doctor Who that were released on video. The first video consists of the final story from the first season of Doctor Who, entitled The Reign of Terror, and sees the Doctor and his companions arriving at the time of the French Revolution. The second video takes us into the Patrick Troughton's era as the Doctor and consists of The Faceless Ones episodes 1 and 3, and the Web of Fear episode 1 (followed by a few surviving clips from other episodes of the serial.) For me, the highlight of the set is the remaining episode of Web of Fear, with the Yeti lurking in the London Underground. This type of story would ultimately set the scene for other earthbound adventures later in the series.

A real feel good series with images of days that have now long gone. Although it can be a little sugary in places as long as you take it for what it is you can simply wallow in the nostalgia of it all.

This is a beautifully made lyrical film. It tells of several people, not just Hannah Hauxwell, who live in the remote Baldersdale area, and aims to give a snapshot of their lives. Made in the early 1970s, the film is of the highest artistic quality although technical quality has come on since those days. Even in the early 1970s the lifestyles of the people portrayed might have seemed archaic, now you can hardly believe they are in fairly recent memory. it's worth watching just to see how this remote corner of England was functioning, only 30 years ago or so. I admired the family of farmers who began the film. They had returned to the dale to look after their sheep during the awful winter, and how steadfastly they coped with the difficult conditions ... Every time I watch this one, it starts off superb but then by episode four it starts to collapse. Patrly because the Metebelis Three people are so stupid and can't act. There are mostly good speical effects all along, and the regeneration is fairly standard, but female spiders?

I was nearly put off buying this film as it seems that some of the reviewers don't think it quite as good as the series. However, I have now bought it and think it is brilliantly made, very funny and a wonderful film to put by for a quiet moment during the Christmas holidays when the TV listings are disappointing or for a rainy Sunday afternoon. My children love it, my parents love it, we love it - so nice to be able to sit down to a film together as a family.
Unlike the series which is set solely in Britain parts of this film are of the Germans plotting their invasion from the other side of the Channel. The juxtapositioning of the German preparedness and the British unpreparedness is priceless. You will recognise some plots from the ... Read More:
