The Goon's are a national institution! They, and especially Spike Milligan, were the god fathers of modern comedy and this gives a rare glimpse into how the Goons actually did those mad stories. My advice to any one who want's to buy the Last Goon Show of All is buy the CD. On the CD, you get the entire show, uncut and a bonus documentry. On this video you get a brilliantly funny story marking the end of one the greatest comedy partnerships of all time, cut to shreads for the sake of fitting it onto a tape! It's not as if the cut's are partiulally good ones either! They miss out virtually an entire scene from the start when Ghrythpipe Fin are Moriarty are talking about there life on the Westminster rubbish dump and consequently you miss most ... Read More:

The main characters are what make this hilarious series of Mapp & Lucia so sublime; Geraldine McEwan as the conniving, social-climbing Lucia; Nigel Hawthorne as her partner in crime and devoted companion; and Prunella Scales as the mawkish and ever-thwarted Miss Mapp. If ever there was an adaptation from novel to TV that remained as close to the author's original intention as possible, Mapp & Lucia is it! Timeless comedy, beautiful locations, stunning sets and costumes, and plenty of side-splitting one-liners - especially those delivered with wasp-like precision by Lucia, the (self-appointed) social queen of Tilling. Too divine!

This is a two-tape box set, and is the second half of a series done in 1997 for the BBC and KCET in America. It's a great introduction into the history of World War I. [The other half is called 1914-1918, Total War.]
The series uses historical films, photos, and music to paint the picture of WWI. This part of the series begins in 1917, and traces the last two years of the war, including the first glimmers of protest against the war in Britain; the mutiny of the French army; the revolution in Russia; and the total exhaustion of all the European armies before America entereed the war. The final tape discusses the aftermath of the war, including the silliness of Woodrow Wilson trying to impose his principles at Versailles with ... Read More:

What a wonderful series this was enjoyed and remembered very well by all family members.
We wanted to own a copy on DVD.
We were very surprised indeed when we found that it has not yet to be placed on to the magic of DVD.
Why is this so?
Shame on you BBC please hurry along or the Puffer Para Handy will sink without trace .
Looking forward to a DVD release date in the very near future.

After 2 classic series for the BBC (Harry Enfield's Television Programme), this third series (which is basically the same show but with a new title and some new characters) is where Harry's comedy genius began to dip and, in my opinion, began to get a bit desperate. The old characters are as funny as ever: Tim Nice-But-Dim, the Old Gits, the Slobs, the Scousers (with someone else playing Joe McGann's role) and Kevin becomes that infamous teenager... (Remember the original kid "Kevin" who was the total opposite of his teenaged version?). Kathy Burke is brilliant as Perry (but everybody knows that, I guess). Also: Lee & Lance are a major improvement in this series - a lot funnier than in the second series. Some of the new characters ... Read More:

A well written and well produced story, this boasts one of Peter Davison's finest ever portrayals of the Doctor. here is is strong, domineering, quirky, eccentric, funny and manipulative in turns, commanding the screen and dealing with human authorities and nasty, scheming alien creatures with equal amounts of authority. Anyone who thinks davsion is not one of the best Doctors needs look no further than this story to see the emergence of a giant, ready to become an unsurpassed legend just two stories later as he visits a set of titular Caves! Watch it and savour it, it is one of the finest! The dialog alone is a treat to ears! Watch it!
