The Plank [1967]

'The Plank' is an absolute classic, funny, hilarious. I have watched it umpteen times and I still find myself lying on the floor, laughing my butts off when I watch it again. I like to show it to my students in English lesson to demonstrate 'British humour', and then I sit in my corner finding it ravingly funny. My (German) students are mostly mildly interested. 'The Plank' obviously is British humour that does not offer its virtues to German teenagers at once. At least I had an enjoyable lesson, ain't that important ? I am now ordering a new copy since my old one is wearing out.

Ok. Well firstly, this movie is quite different to the series that was on television. Although its just as funny, i personally say this is better!
After seeing quite a few of the television series ages and ages ago..then seeing this, i was extremely tempted to buy it. I always find that when they make a movie out of a good comedy thats been on tv,theyre excellent! Well this just couldnt have been better. Literally from the beginning i found that it was hilarious and i couldnt stop laughing at parts...victor maldrew is just so funny in this!
I loved the plot and the storyline..how it was based on victor and is wife going on a vacation of a company of mrs warboys. They all go to Portugal for two weeks. But dont expect the problems and ... Read More:

VHS : The Box Of Delights

The Box Of Delights

starring: Devin Stanfield, Robert Stephens, Geoffrey Larder, Jonathan Stephens, Joanna Dukes

This fantastic film is one of the very few DVDs that I would recommend sight-unseen to anyone. If you are a little tired of `It's a Wonderful Life' and `Holiday Inn' then I can't think of anything else which will get you into the Christmas spirit more easily.

The Box of delights is one of the best children's productions the BBC have ever done, and for a variety of reasons has managed to achieve longevity. A key factor is the approach to visual effects. A generous helping of animation mixed with real action has helped keep it seeming different and fresh, even though it's now over 20 years old. There just aren't many films or programmes which have made use of this technique so well. At the other end of the scale, a lot of it feels ... Read More:

VHS : Teletubbies - Here Come The Teletubbies

Teletubbies - Here Come The Teletubbies

from: 2 Entertain Video

We have a number of Teletubbies videos, and of course watch the occasional new episode on TV, but this is the best I have seen so far and undoubtedly is our young daughter's favourite. There is a delightful video of some young children in the rain and then a cloud comes and makes a big puddle in which all the Teletubbies get wet. This is followed by a computer animation of a parade of animals which always transfixes and delights our daughter. In fact this tape is just one delight after another - fantastic entertainment for tots from beginning to end.

Eastenders is the nations favourite soap opera.
This VHS brings you inside the world of Walford.
It fetaures many classic moments such as Grant hearing the tape from Phil and Sharon, Phil torching the vic and of cource Den handing Angie divorce papers for a Christmas present!
Eatenders has not been very good in recent years (except for Dens return and Alfie Moon) so buy this and be reminded of the glory years.

This box set is probably the best becsause it contains classic episodes like 'Doppelgangland', 'Earshot', 'Enemies' and 'Graduation Day Part 2'. Season Three was a classic season and the second part was the best; everything was good...Angel featured, Willow was going out with Oz, Faith was wreaking havoc and the terrific baddie The Mayor was getting ready for his Ascension. We love How Things Used To Be!

The Animals Of Farthing Wood - Part 1 - The Journey Begins [1993]

Though obviously based on the books by Colin Dann, the story itself is heavily based on Richard Adam's "Watership Down" novel. It has obvious similarities such as the pike in the river, a clumsy water bird, and their homeland being destroyed by human building, and more. Being they're both set in the north too, there are bound to be influences anyway.

Animals of Farthing Wood is simply a classic though, and I find it more enjoyable than Watership Down. It teaches children that not everything is rainbows and butterflies all the time, and animals will suffer because of the thoughtless activities of humans (though not all humans are depilated as bad, such as the Warden and the Fire-fighters).

The death of the Hedgehogs on the motorway ... Read More:
