End of days is a film that has had alot of criticism thrown at it and clearly some of it has stuck,it isnt a perfect film, there are flaws and holes in the storyline and the odd trick doesnt work but in terms of being dark and sinister this film has it nailed on.
Arnie pops up as a beaten down drunk who has lost his faith and much more besides, gabe byrne plays the devil who needs to concieve the spawn of satan and unlock the gates of hell, both forces are sure to meet.
The film has some good ideas, while not always realised there is plenty to admire, the violence is good and the pace of the film is lively enough, there is room for sentiment also as arnie has his flaws and is far from a 'terminator' here,as another reviewer stated this ... Read More:

John Travolta (Grease) stars as Tony Manero, a troubled 19 year old who's joy in life comes from the dance floor, and when Stephanie comes along, he finds a whole new world to be explored in dancing.
This 1977 music drama is one of the reasons Travolta is one of Hollywood's most established stars with a mesmerizing Oscar nominated performance as Tony Manero, the troubled paint store assistant whose only joy comes from dancing. I first watched this film on its cinema release in the U.K. I loved it then and still do today. My tape version has seen better days so I splashed out on the dvd and I am not sorry. (dvd`s in Africa are very expensive compared to the U.K.)Shirley MacLaine is superb and there could not have been a better choice to take the lead role. Supporting actors Stubby Kay, Ricardo Montalban and Sammy Davis Jnr add to the quality of the production and Chita Rivera is brilliant. The dvd offers an alternate ending but I must confess that I have never watched it.

Roger Moore's debut as secret agent 007 is intriguing and exciting as he portrays the infamous James Bond in a very charming and secretive way, more so than Connery who was very professional and more rugged in his role. I'm personally a bigger fan of Connery and Brosnan but Moore still does the role justice in this 1973 adventure about Bond trying to track down a fate believing drug lord.
The plot is slightly confusing the first half an hour in or so but once speed boats, helicopters, crocodiles and Solitaire are added the film takes a turn in the right direction, becoming exciting throughout.
Its one of the more mysterious Bond films, with mystery surrounding significant characters and events right until the very end.
This video should be compulsory viewing for all parents of teenagers! It might help them to understand their troubled offspring a bit better. It is very funny, and compulsive viewing - watch it again and again.
