This is quite an elderly anime at this stage. Old enough that Excel Saga did a parody episode of it some time ago.

It is hilariously funny _if_ and only if it catches you in the right mood. If you try to watch it seriously then you will probably deride it, but if you sit down with the intent of laughing your head off then this film will help you every step of the way.

The story was probably never that great to begin with (rebellious students with inexplicably good martial arts skills, mutants taking over as teachers, wannabe superheroes and terrified biker gangs) and I honestly suspect that many of the writers, artists and voice actors didn't "get" the plot, but by the time the dubbing crew and english voice actors, who ... Unfortunately this DVD is mistakenly advertised as being in the ENGLISH LANGUAGE which it is NOT, it is in Serbian with English subtitles! Again UNFORTUNATELY for me at least the 90 day period had past before I opened the DVD to play it. Having contacted "Georgina" (from Cork) at Amazon who assured me she would alter the details to show the Language details were "SERBIAN" to ensure the same thing did not happen to another customer she has done absolutely nothing!PLEASE CAN THIS MATTER BE ADDRESSED??

This is, without a doubt, the absolute very worst film ever produced by humanity. It's worse than Battlefield Earth. It's worse than the Highlander sequels. It's worse than A Nymphoid Barbarian In Dinosaur Hell.

Having seen this film on TV, I bought the DVD because I felt the need to demonstrate to my friends just how bad this film is. Since I don't have any friends, it's never been viewed. In fact, it's still in its plastic wrapper. I'm worried that if I unwrap it, the badness will leak out into my other DVDs, and the next time I watch Batman Begins or Fight Club, they'll all mysteriously suck.

Worst Film Ever. Run now, and save yourselves.

directed by: Toyoo Ashida
August 09, 1999

This series itself retains something of a cult following - not least because of its distinctive tone and setting, which packages pounding martial arts action, a deconstruction of the family, as well as interesting homo-erotic undertones - all set in a Mad Max style post-catastrophe landscape. After a devastating global war, we are told, life for mankind has turned into a nightmarish struggle, not only because of the barren environment but through the depredations of mentally deranged, mutated savages.

Ranged against them, and all evildoers, is Kenshiro, master of a particular fighting technique, Hokuto Shinken, a virtually unbeatable martial skill that works on manipulating the secret power points of opponent's bodies, destroying them from ... Read More:

One of my favourite film and the best foregin language film I have seen. This is the moive from grown-up people. I fell in love with all the characters, music and amazingly mature performances from its cast. This is the film for everyone. If you like the romantic drama such as Christian Faure's Juste une question d'amour, you will definitely love this film. Hopefully, this film will be available to purchase on Amazon very soon.

Wittgenstein [1993]

starring: Clancy Chassay, Jill Balcon, Sally Dexter, Gina Marsh, Vanya Del Borgo
directed by: Derek Jarman
January 24, 2000
Best Selling > VHS > World Cinema

Although there is no accounting for the audacious and experimental style in which artist and filmmaker Derek Jarman has put together this offbeat biography of the famed philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein, one can't help feeling a little disappointed by the slight and unimaginative focus the film gives to the real life concerns of this great and forward thinking individual. As the previous reviewer points out, if you (much like myself) know little to nothing about the philosophical or biographical background of Wittgenstein the man, then this film really offers very little in the way of enlightenment; never giving the audience the chance to gain real insight into the character or the events of his life, save perhaps, for a few brief scenes included to prove a poinr. VHS : Ladybird Ladybird [1994]

Ladybird Ladybird [1994]

starring: Crissy Rock, Vladimir Vega, Ray Winstone
directed by: Ken Loach
April 12, 1999
Best Selling > VHS > World Cinema

My fiance was compelled to watch this film in a law school class, & years later was compelled to look for it & watch it again. Ladybird Ladybird (fly away home, I guess) is an exhausting movie to watch: the violence & misery are relentless. It's as exhausting as listening to music by the Pogues; in fact, it's like watching a Pogues tune. A film like this could never be made in the USA; we USA'ers are too stupidly idealistic & naive. This should be must-see for social work students & social workers & maybe everyone in those so-called "helping professions!"
