We owned an original Nintendo DS for two years - we bought it right when it released in December 2004. When I first saw the DS Lite at E3 in 2006, I was thrilled. The game great handheld unit design - but lighter! Brighter! Tuned! It really showed that Nintendo had been paying attention to customer feedback during those two years, and had tweaked its unit to be even better than before.
First, the weight. We always *loved* the design of the DS, with its folding top. As PSP owners, I can't tell you how many time that poor PSP screen gets dinged or scratched. Personally I found this to be total rubbish,
Even after following recipes to the letter I end up with very unsatisfactory results.... runny sauces et al. The speech recognition has to be disabled because when you use it and do anything remotely noisy (like chopping ingredients!!!) it thinks you are speaking and it gets totally confused taking you back through the cooking instructions. This means you have to use the stylus which is hardly ideal when cooking. It was very disappointing given I thought I had found something useful to do with my DS rather than 'training my brain' or zapping aliens.... I used to play the original Space Invaders when it first appeared in the arcades way back in 1978 and, over the years, have played a great many incarnations of this classic - however, none have lived up to the addictive simplicity of the original game.
Space Invaders Extreme does though manage to successfully update the original and it's one of the few updates that actually works extremely well. I'm really impressed by Space Invaders Extreme and would heartily recommend it to players both young and old - even if you hated the original you'll love this! >>More Details |

if you were not already blown away be medievel 2 total war you will have to check out the expansion pack KINGDOM
it is so good that each campaign feels like a whole different game... it is worthy to be total war material. JUST WOW it also has famous characters in the campaign like scotland had William Wallace ( braveheart-1995 ) and the kingdom of jeruselem has richard the lion heart Simply great. i highly think that people should get this.....NOW!! >>More Details |

I've tried other controllers for the PS2, and in the end there is no other controller quite like the Dualshock 2. The buttons on other controllers often require quite a conscious effort to use them, but the Dualshock 2's analogue buttons are actually analogue - press lightly and you'll get one response, press a little harder and you'll get another, and so on. The Dualshock 2 seems to last as long as any other controller and is simply better quality, so there's no real competition there.
As for the usefulness of a Dualshock 2 now that the PS3 is out - the Sixaxis controller bundled with the PS3 doesn't have rumble functionality, and a Dualshock 3 with rumble and Sixaxis tilt sensors will currently set you back quite a bit compared to a Dualshock ... Read More: >>More Details |

Thankfully, developers are beginning to realise that the Wii is perfect for light gun games. The House of the Dead series is one of the greatest in this genre, and the Wii conversion retains everything that made these games so special in the arcades.
Graphically, nothing has been updated, so Part 3 obviously looks better than Part 2. A few modes have been bundled in, like Boss mode and a few tutorials, unlockable extras etc. But Arcade mode really is where its at. There are multiple branching paths throughout each stage, which usually depend on whether a civilian is rescued or killed. This provides amazing replayability. Having religiously avoided computer games since the early nineties PC version of games, buying this impressive little piece of kit was a revelation. Bought with the popular Brain Training software programme, we've used this everyday on a recent holiday and had good fun with it, proving that families can indeed be brought together for fun with technology rather than becoming uncommunicative zombies!
The DS lite is well-constructed, and seems to have an excellent battery life, making it ideal for travel. As far as Brain Training goes - well the novelty wears of pretty quickly, although the temptation is always there to have just one more try to get your brain age down to a respectable number. The best way to describe this game is brilliant, it makes you think about what you are doing aswell as enjoying it, right at the beginning - when you have rounded up the goats on the ranch and you jump into the village, you have little mysteries to solve, you approach people and speak to them, and they each have a little problem, you need to sort out their problem, for instance the small thin man moaning about the bees nest - you have to figure out how to knock down the bees nest, I wont give too much away but you have to buy a sling shot from the local shop, I used the sling shot to knock down the bee hive, also the lady who owns the shop has lost her cat, so until you find her cat and return it - you cannot buy anything from her shop! having had this on the ps2 i wasnt sure why i bought it but i am glad i did. its just fun throughout being able to be in star wars and unlocking characters & playing fo all the bonuses, something i was never into.
