Does exactly what you want it to. Of course this is NOT a voltage converter, it merely changes the physical plug from US to UK. As such, the voltage on your American item needs to support the UK 240v. Please ignore the bad reviews of this product, they are from people too stupid to realize this and who plugged an American 115v product into a UK 240v socket, thus blowing fuses. This converter has no 'voltage' of its own.
If your product doesn't support 240v then you need a voltage converter, not just a socket converter.
My Zune charger supports 100v-240v, so this works just fine.

Having purchased different travel adapters from airports all over the world, this adapter is by far the undisputed king. Every type of foreign plug is catered for and yet this ingenious adapter is only slightly larger than a match box. My previous adapters certainly worked abroad but there were far too many fiddly components involved and required a finalist from the Krypton Factor to try and fit it together. I admit, there is included with the Swiss travel adapter a small UK plug attachment to enable products fitted with a standard UK 3 pin plug to work abroad, but this is simplicity itself to attach. Also the adapters you buy from airports tend to be made from low grade plastics and will break under the stresses of travel. This adapter, on the other hand,is ... Read More:

If all you want to do is recharge a mobile phone, iPod, digital camera batteries or a laptop, this is probably more than you need - get a cheaper, less bulky inverter with a lower wattage. But if you want to run power tools or something that needs the high wattage, this is what you're looking for.
The reason I only gave it four stars is because it interferes with the car radio reception - to the point where it's not even worth having the radio on at all, because you can't really hear anything, although some frequencies seemed to be affected more than others.

Good price with very quick delivery. However, item was not as shown in the photograph. It has a light which illuminates when charging (not great if using in bedroom overnight).

If your laptop is overheating and cutting out or the fans are on at 100% the majority of the time I would recommend this product. After installing the latest graphics drivers for my Dell XPS M1710 and buying the game Mass Effect, my laptop suffered with frequent overheats and noisy performance from the fans running at maximum. As a temporary solution I used ice blocks underneath the laptop to provide cooling which proved rather effetive. However these were inconvenient, awkward and only delayed overheating.
To carry out maintenance on the cooling system on my laptop I used the following:
- Can of Compressed air
- Solvent to clean off old thermal compount (rubbing alcohol is fine)
- Arctic silver to replace old thermal compound ... Read More:
