I read all the feedback on this item before I bought it and was aware of software/driver problems with negear adapters so I downloaded and installed the latest driver without bothering with the CD included. During the install I chose to use windows to set up the network and managed to get this working although it was a bit of a fiddle.
Initially i had a lot of problems with the explorer not connecting to the internet despite excellent reception. Eventually I realised the problem was being caused by Netgear's Smart Wizard which was added to the "Start up" list of programmes. This seemed to be interferring with XP wireless network. Once I turned it off everything was fine and has not caused problems since.
Following the advice above, i downloaded the software from the Edimax site. I get a very good signal strength and 100% link. I previously bought a Belkin G+MIMO Desktop Card (£30+) and that isn't anything like as good as this £11+ Edimax.

My first Netgear 834G died after just two years - doesn't seem very long compared with other IT equipment I have. Netgear sent a free replacement, good. To set this up took three days of attempts to get it working (reflecting difficulties with setting up my original 834). In the end, I spent almost three hours on the phone with two different Netgear engineers - one from the sub-continent and difficult to understand, and one from LA, very helpful and knowledgable, who took a further 40 mins to fix the set up problem.
The installation and set up material is entirely inadequate and contradictory, and assumes professional understanding of procedures and acronyms. It doesn't suggest using a professional to install it, which I would recommend. It works, ... Read More:

Great earphones certainly along better than the one's that came with the phone. They fit in your ear really well, there a bit like little ear defenders but except with build in speaker's. There also really bass-y which is cool.
Also they come in two pieces so not only can use them with which ever headphones you like, but if you get a AV cable you can plug your mobile into a home stereo system which is fantastic.
The only problem I should say is that within the first day one of the ear-piece rubber things fell out and I lost it. O well it's a good job the headphones came with spares, I got round this problem by glue-in the other ones in with a little bit of superglue but be careful leave the glue to dry for a couple of minutes before ... I was a little disappointed that the leads were grey and not white, but i'm not all that fussy. The leads are strong and very durable, i get a brilliant, fast connection, and i was up and running in minutes!

Absolutely brilliant! Having spent many an hour trying to get other network products to work in the past, this was like falling off a log.
1) Plug 'em in to a wall socket (or in my case an extension socket - not necessarily recommended by the manufacturer for optimum performance, but it worked absolutely fine for me). The LEDs on each unit showed that they were networked up and ready to go in about 1-2 seconds!
2) Attach the supplied network leads (nice touch)at each end and hey presto, that's it.
3) If you want to, you can install the supllied software, but you really don't have to. I did just to see what transfer rates mine was achieving on the aforementioned extension lead. Answer - between 60 and 85 Mbps and solid as a rock. ... Read More:

I bought this adapter around 1 year ago. It has lasted and still works fine. Sometimes, about twice a month it will randomly disconnect but that doesnt bother me. It doesnt overheat like my old netgear WG111T did and was basically, plug in and play. The only problem I have with it, and it is a pretty big one ( for gaming) is that it sufferes lag spikes. U can be playing an online game fine for 2 minutes, when u suddenly freeze and cant move for about 4-6 seconds, then it unfreezes, you catch up to the point you should be been at and carry on playing. It also happens with vioce chat. You can talk for abour 30 seconds, when suddenly, eveything goes silent for 2 seconds or so and then you can talk.
Speaking without hyperbole, I think I can say that out of all the equipment I have bought throughout my life, from toasters to CD writers, this is without a doubt the WORST thing I have ever had the misfortune to waste my money on. With the computer in one room and the wireless router in just the next room, I have never had a signal strength stronger than "poor". My flatmates use different wireless cards and have no problems (just in case you think it's the router). As an experiment, I placed the wireless adapter right next to the router, as in four inches away, and it still couldn't find the network.
It is difficult just browsing the internet as the connection (when available) keeps getting lost. I am very disappointed with Belkin. Particularly after having ... Read More:

I have sky broadband and wanted to connect my desktop PC upstairs to the wireless network. I saw the 5 star reviews for this product and the cheap price and went ahead and bought one.
It took me 10 minutes to install the card in the machine and install the software on XP.
Wireless signal reception is 100% for my sky broadband connection and it also picked up 3 signals from surrounding houses...!
