What a fantastic value replacement multi function home office printer. I bought this printer to replace my Dell A960 all in one and it has not disappointed. I use this plugged into the back of my wireless router so now allows me to print wirelessly from my laptop without having the desk top on. Set up was straight forward, however even for network set up you must use a a USB lead connected to your main computer first - follow the instructions and you cannot go wrong.
Replacement ink is not that expensive either, see Ink Fusion and you can get a set of replacement 5 tanks for around £40. Not sure how long the ink will last. My tip is, do not stint on the ink - always buy Canon originals. Photo quality printing ... Read More: >>More Details |

I bought this printer as a replacement for the Epson R200 which was a fantastic photo printer for 4 years (until the print head started playing up).
Having read loads of reviews singing the praises of the RX585, particularly for its photo printing quality, I opted for this model. What a disappointment! The photos I printed intially on glossy inkjet photo paper were very grainy in appearance and colours (especially black) were poorly matched to the actual colours, with the black printing as red. However, once I used Epson's own premimum glossy photo paper prints are perfect and would give photo labs a run for their money. Difficult to install (supplied disc wouldnt run on XP pro SP3) Driver downloaded from HP worked fine but every time computer or printer was turned off and on required reinstall of wifi link. All appeared OK on diagnostics but HP unable to rectify problem or advise of work round so now returned.

In April 2008 I purchased from Amazon my MX700, after reading many reviews on various websites, I was reluctant to purchase another brand having always bought HP printers. The reason behind purchasing another brand, was due to conflicts between two HP printers on my wired netwotk, which HP support could not overcome.
I certainly do not regret the choice, I have found my MX700 excellent. The initial installation needs to be done carefully following the instructions given by canon. My MX700 is installed on my wired network, and is easily accessible from my PC and laptop. This machine has several features not common in other printers in this price range. I bought the printer mainly to scan negatives and to print them.
I use both Windows and Mac with a USB connection to the printer. Even if not entirely satisfied I would buy this product again. PROS: - very good scanning quality (of negatives and slides, good speed, rendering of colours, shadows, etc.); - the print quality is comparable to the one of Boots; - silent and relatively fast; - broad range of print/scanning options (I did not try the OCR, yet). CONS: - the USB cable is not included; - on Windows the software requires 800MB and on Mac 480MB. The scan a colour negative at the maximum resolution produces a file of about 20MB. We have used this printer in our family of four for over a year now and are really delighted with it. I use it for work (reports including diagrams), my wife uses it for her university art degree and our children use it for school work. We all use it to print photographs. It has worked flawlessly for over a year. We have it connected to two desktop and two laptop machines via an ethernet network. A particularly nice feature is that when the printer reports "the (yellow/ black/ whatever) cartridge has run out" you can press the "OK" button and it continues to print without changing the cartridge. So you can keep going until the ink really has run out.

I now have about 7 months experience with this all-in-one professional printer, scanner, and copier. I has a high quality of printing, relatively simple to use, scans documents into PDF format, and is robut. Amazon delivered it to me free of charge. Original and genuine ink cartridges are expensive but last long. It can work wireless with an additional equipment. I highly recommend it to thos professionals with a small office to run. ARABETH
