this item does get worryingly hot , but seems to work fine , used for ages now , its travelled a lot , over 3000 miles with me , and works just as well on uk , or abroad voltage .
bought as replacement for little dell laptop , works fine ,it has a usb power port which worked out fine for supplying extra power to a card bus usb adaptor , so for this feature alone would highly recommend .

Although this is marketed as a laptop drive, I actually wanted it for my new Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop, which like most current machines do not ship with a floppy drive. I placed my order mid-afternoon on a Wednesday, received an email to the effect that my order had shipped two hours later. Standard shipping was given as Royal Mail 3-5 working days. The postman handed it to me 20 mins ago, just two days later. I unwrapped it, plugged it in to a spare front-panel USB port and less than ten seconds later Vista proclaimed my new device to be installed and ready for use.I have since run eight floppies through it. It could read two of them and Vista suggested I format the rest. Some of these floppies, including the ones it could read are fifteen ... Read More:

It is extortionate to charge this much for something you will probably only ever use once. Once you've transferred all your huge files you will probably, like me, go out and but a large USB stick for the day-to-day transfers because you will not have the time to wait for it to dawdle your files from one PC to another. Believe me, it is very slooow!

I bought this as it looked a very good value webcam. But unfortunately it looks like I got what I paid for.
As another reviewer has noted, installation was painful. I just dumped the CD in the bin, as it just couldn't be read by the computer, and grabbed the installation files from the Logitech website. However, this wasn't straightforward, as it wasn't clear which model I had, and had to download a couple of install packages before I got the right one.
When I did get it working, I was very disappointed in the quality. Under optimal light conditions, the picture is pretty grainy, and quite choppy.
And if the room isn't completely bright, then you can barely see the camera image. I'm not being picky here - it struggles ... Read More:

I was carrying my dell vostro 1710 widescreen laptop (17 inch) using the supplied shoulder strap and the plastic part which the strap clicks into snapped. Luckily no damage to my laptop.
I would recommend that you only use the carry handle and not the shoulder strap. The laptop fits perfectly but the plastic clips let this down.
