A good piece of kit. Locks on to GPS signal very quickly and is fairly swift at working out a route. It's a bit chunky, like the mobile phones of a couple or so years back. It has a fixed aerial which stands proud of the case by a couple of inches and generally feels very solid. The menu system takes a little getting used to and can be a bit clunky and time consuming if you want to locate a specific address. Not off puttinly so, just a bit long winded. GB post code acceptance would be a help :-)
The supplied maps are OK, but if you want to do any serious walking be prepared to buy maps to add. To date I have only bought the Topo GB V2 one, which seems fine (would like those post codes though), plenty of detail and ... Read More:

I bought this hoping it would help find where I wanted to go to in the U.S.A. and it did that and more, you really must have one of these if you plan to drive over there, it saved me time, gave me the choice of using toll roads, helped find nearest restaurants and much more. It really is a must have item.

I did quite a bit of research as I have never owned a satnav before and chose this one as the best featured value for money. I was a bit put off by the very poor reviews above but went ahead anyway. That has proved to b a good decision.
I have been using this now for about a month in car and on foot in the UK (including pedestrian in London) and have just returned from my annual Le Mans 24 trip having used it to get to all of my hotels.
It can be fiddly inputting French addreses. The auto search facility and the POI locater works well here. It is very fast at recalculating the route if you go wrong or just deliberately ignore the prompts. Satellite acquisition is very quick if you switch on at the same location you switched off. ... This is the slimmest usb device I've ever seen, really.
Tip: do not install the driver that came with the product. If all you need to do is send and receive files, let windows find a driver. If you need the serial port service, go online and download the latest bluesoleil driver.
Gave me the service I needed the most - integrating with Winamps player and Controlfreak - afterabout 45 mins of fiddling.
... but I still prefer the driver that comes with the belkin device, won't work with this one though

I bought one of these a few weeks back, and was disappointed to find a small "scratch" mark in one corner of the protector, which was quite noticeable depending on what was on screen. I emailed Proporta about this on a Saturday evening, and received a replacement protector the following Tuesday morning. I've not had to send the faulty one back yet, either. The new one is absolutely fine, and does not affect the quality of the display one bit.
Great product, and excellent service from Proporta. Well worth buying!

I have to agree with Famekar. The synchronisation software wouldn't install on my computer. It said I hadn't got Outlook installed. At first, I put this down to the fact I had Office Outlook 2007, but it wouldn't recognise Outlook Express V6 either, although the read me file, that was on the software disc, indicated it should.
The LCD contrast is not to good. Even on the brightest setting 1, under certain lighting conditions the screen is very difficult to see. The back light is no help either. Unless it's very dark, you can't tell whether it's on or off.
