I purchased this gps principally for use on a cycle so I also obtained the recomended Garmin handlebar clip which mates up by a part screwed to the gps battery cover.
After my first ride of circa 60 miles on reasonably surfaced roads, the battery cover was visibly loose and hence no longer a weatherproof seal. This looseness also tends to eject the memory card I have fitted to extend the mapping. I should think it is an excellent navigation device for rambling, but the mechanical weaknesses make it a poor choice for use on a cycle. >>More Details |

I have to agree with the previous reviewer, this is the best thing I've ever bought for my bike!
I had the funds available for the colour versions, the 605 & 705, but they didn't offer anything that I actually needed. So I bought this one. The virtual training partner is good, so you can race against yourself and try to beat a previously recorded route. Although it's not a satnav you can create your own routes/journeys on a site called bikeroutetoaster dot com and then upload them to the 305. Then, if you've set waypoints, it'll tell you which way to go etc. I did a lot of research into a bike computer before buying this one and a lot of reviews/opinions etc on various forums didn't seem to like the ... I have had an iphone for about 4 months and although loving the phone was scared to take my ultimate gadget out due to the lack of a durable case that also allowed me to access all the features. The main problem i have with most cases is that they dont protect the one thing that needs to be protected, the screen!
This product differs though. Through some kind of magic you can use the iphone through the case meaning you can immediately use the iphone when you slip it out of your pocket rather than having to slide it out of a cover or flip something open its almost as if the case was not there.
