This network webcam was purchased as a test to see if the 'tilt/pan' was any good.
At the price point, the tilt/pan is in fact just selecting part of the image sensor which has a very short focal length, giving a wide angle view. This wide angle view is not optically 'straight', but that's to be expected. The interface allows 'scanning' of the overall area, which is a nice addition, In use, the device used only 3 watts at 12 volts (250 mA) and is a candidate for running from a solar panel. It will also run at 6V but then uses 500 mA of current. Wireless range is acceptable up to 20m from a BT hub base station.
