The philips 1.3 mega pixal webcam is a good quality but you can get better webcams for a bit more money. I paid £45 at the time near the end of 2007 and now when i done this review 13th March 2008 you can get a 5 mega pixal webcam for £65 so have a look around befor you buy.

Bought this on the strength of previous reviews.
But am very disappointed. Video image is dark in daylight and very dark in artificial light even with the LED light switched on. Have tried to adjust the settings but this makes the image very pixelated.
Don't be fooled by the photo of the webcam, the cord is very short - so on a video call you have to have an upwards sideways view of your face. The cord is not really long enough to reach from a USB port to the top behind the laptop screen.

Lets not even talk about the headset that came with it; that just went in the bin straight away. The cam itself seems good enough, but the software is terrible, the installation is rude (installs all sorts of AOL and Yahoo crap without asking), and the camera is simply BAD in an indoors situation without shedloads of natural light booming in. It works fine outdoors in the summer sun, or with a spotlight over your head while being used, but bar either of these it's not a worthwhile buy, as not only does the picture suffer, but so does the framerate.
Stay away, and buy something else with your money.

Delivery was well before the allotted time, only slight grumble is that you have no way of knowing when it is dispatched, may be due to it being a reseller. The cam itself was easy to install, just stuck in the CD and away it went. Only thing it desn't do is autofocus and no instructions on how to do this. Found out you just twist the dial on the camera itself. Once I was in focus and all drivers were installed I made a skype call and it worked great. Would recomend this to anyone wanting a cheap WebCam for a laptop.
