Hoya 72mm G Series Skylight Filter

from: Hoya

Best Selling > Photo > Filters and Adapters

Hoya filters do exactly what they say on the tin. They are a name I've come to trust over the years.

I always use a skylight filter on my lenses, mainly to protect the front element but there is always the added benefit of the actual effect they lend to the shots which admittedly is a secondary concern for me with this type of filter.

However, Hoya have created a good quality filter which is suitable for all lenses bar those of a wide angle nature. For wide angles get the special slimline filters to avoid the corners of the images being cropped off. This won't matter if you're using a full frame lens on a crop sensor body.

Good value and well made.

I owned this lens for more than a year, and due to lack of use, (and a temptation to purchase the Nikon D200 (best purchase I've made for a superb camera!) to replace a great D100) I decided to sell my 80-400VR before the re-sale value of the D100 dropped too low!

I agree with the earlier review, initially I didn't find results, with slower speeds, what I expected, but, on a bright summer's day ... WOW! I have some of the best air display shots I could ever have wished for ... crystal clear! (VR lenses do take a bit of 'getting used to'!) With the addition of a polarising filter, the background deep blue sky and white clouds enhanced my photos superbly! I'm even proud enough to show them at my local camera club!! I miss this ... Warning to anyone wanting to purchase this item.
I ordered what I thought was this from Amazon (Supplier Purely Gadgets)at the beginning of December 2007 and it was £34.95. However, when it arrived it was not the digital filter in the photograph. I see that this filter is now £30 more, though is still the item linked to from my original order, so someone at Amazon doesn't know what they are doing.

Just check that it is the Hoya Circular Polariser specifically for Digital SLRs, otherwise you'll be disappointed, like I was.
