How silly that I had to give this appalling book a star just so I could post my review! Really, Amazon, are we not allowed to give a zero rating???
Anyway, as you can see from my title, I do, indeed give this book NO STARS.
Well LANGUAGE "ladies", please! Thank goodness the authors had the idea of letting the customer see inside the book before purchasing! The finger-pointing, aggressive tone is bad enough, but the "F" word a few pages in, describing soda manufacture, is indefensible. I would not give this insulting book shelf-room. Do yourselves a favour, don't buy it!

First saw this cookbook in my sister's house and asked her to photocopy me a few recipes so I could try them...by the end of the week I'd cooked them all so decided to buy it for myself! We both cooked a three-course meal from this book for our other halves and it was empty plates all round - a good sign that this is tasty food that just happens to be healthy!I've made about 20 things so far and they've all been gorgeous. None of it is rocket science, just simple substitutions and hints for food you would make every day. Carbonara is one of my husband's favourite dinners and now he prefers this version.
Examples of recipes are:
Boursin,pancetta and chive omelette
Sundried tomato and black olive dip
Chicken Caesar ... Read More:

It's worth it for the baking recipes alone - as a wheat-free vegan, I never get to eat cake or biscuits! However, I've made some of these baking recipes with wheat-free flour and they've turned out beautifully. Even my die-hard meat-eating friends and colleagues look forward to the chocolate chip cookies from this book when I make them.
My one criticism is that some of the ingredients can be difficult to source in the UK. Also I cannot get on with tempeh, which does feature very strongly in this book.
However, there are no salad recipes at all which I think is great - who needs a recipe for salad?!

I just started to read this book, but already I find it inspiring. I'll never diet again. I can see that this book is going to on my very small self-help bookshelf. This book shows you how you can change you weight destiny, how it's possibly to enjoy your life and have the figure you've always dreamed of. It has shown me how I've been in previous years a "naturally slim" person, because of stress and nervous energy. I always felt like it was pure luck that I happened to be so thin then, now at my imperfect and soon to be changed weight with thanks to this book, I realise that it was just that my lifestyle was in tune with my weight. It's a definite must read, no matter what weight you are. Whether you believe you are "naturally slim" or whether you've ... Read More:

Have to be honest, it's rare I'll even bother to write a book review but feel compelled to here. After being a veggie for 20 years, I'm toying with the idea of becoming a vegan. I'm not one for being preached at and most 'activists' irritate me beyond description. Also, I'm not one for overblown American in your face type writing, so I was a little apprehensive about buying this. I needn't have been. It's superb. Honest, humorous, non preachy and debunks many myths including several perpetuated by vegans themselves. The authors include links for further info and resources which adds to the value too. If you're considering becoming a vegan or even just flirting with the idea, buy this book.

I loved this book. I enjoyed the characters and their stories. The main character has to try to rebuild her life in a sleepy seaside town, after the death of her husband. She re-vamps her grandmother's wool shop and makes best friends along the way. It's a small town with a lot of love, somewhere anyone would like to live.

Despite the somewhat obnoxious title, I enjoyed reading this book and think it has a lot of interesting ideas packed into its 273 pages. It profiles the typical daily diet and weekly exercise routines of 21 so-called `Skinny Chicks' ranging from US dress size 2 to 8 (the UK equivalent of size 6 to 12). After this, the author describes the 50 `secrets' of these women, going into more detail about how they keep slim and fit.
As expected, the advice given is pretty much standard healthy eating stuff. Count calories. Bulk out meals with vegetables and salad. Drink lots of water. Learn positive self talk. Although I suppose I have been doing some of these things already (I've lost over a stone and have one more to go), it was still useful to read the ideas ... Read More:

Discovered this book by chance browsing yet again for something new. A deceptively simple book and technique that is truly wise in that the more you study, the more you realise and learn. Gillian convincingly purports the should -be -obvious truth that the way you eat, not what you weigh is the root of the problem then explores this with great wisdom and insight using an addiction model. Initially like some other reviewers i wondered if this too "would not work" for my weight, then realised that my weight had stopped yoyoing by its usual stone, after 10 months it is now starting to drop steadily though slowly in a way I am confident can be sustained. Like anything lasting, authentic and worthwhile it takes sustained and mindful effort to put the techniques into practice ... Read More:

wow! i've got numerous vegan cookbooks, some of which contain the odd valuable recipe, but this is something else. every recipe sounds delicious and they are by no means hard to make. although quite a few of the recipes have fairly long prep times, they are definately worth it. my omni boyfriend is even impressed at his delicious vegan dinner. one really good thing about this book is that at the beggining there are a couple of chapters on how to cook a grain, how to cook a veg, and descriptions of different equipment you may need. recipes include something for every occasion. Those from the mix and match section are my personal favourites.
so if you are a vegan and need help sorting out your diet and your kitchen this is the book for you. i feel like i'll never need ... Read More:
