My 7 year old son is a very good reader, top 5% of his class, but actually getting him to enjoy reading rather than see it as a chore is very tough. This book engaged him from the start - obviously the title will attract your average 7-8 year old boy, but the story was very well constructed with each chapter ending on a 'cliffhanger' and leaving him wanting more. Not the most perfect grammar or syntax throughout, but I'm probably showing my age by worrying about those! Highly recommended!

Written in an easy style with plenty of excitement in each chapter, it kept my eight year old son rooted to the spot till we'd finished the whole book, only 60 odd pages of big print. Charlie is a modern day just william character, the book has plenty of great illustrations and would suitable for the confident 7 year upwards reader, we are already looking for our next fix.Don't hesitate just buy it you'll love Charlie just as much as the kids.

Excellent book for kids, full of colourful pictures - illustrated by the author, she must be very talented, and a moral at the end! I've bought three copies for nieces/nephews, review from one of them below.
