Have to be honest, it's rare I'll even bother to write a book review but feel compelled to here. After being a veggie for 20 years, I'm toying with the idea of becoming a vegan. I'm not one for being preached at and most 'activists' irritate me beyond description. Also, I'm not one for overblown American in your face type writing, so I was a little apprehensive about buying this. I needn't have been. It's superb. Honest, humorous, non preachy and debunks many myths including several perpetuated by vegans themselves. The authors include links for further info and resources which adds to the value too. If you're considering becoming a vegan or even just flirting with the idea, buy this book.

This book is nothing short of FABULOUS. It is my bible. For all those who fear that vegan food has to be bland and uninteresting i challenge you to feel the same having cooked any recipe from this book. The recipes are diverse and there is something for every occasion. What i love about this book is that the food is high on taste but also low in fat and all the bad stuff.

The good points of this book are loads of info on nutrition, simple to follow recipes, easy to find ingredients, and it doesn't rely much on fake meats either, unlike many other vegan cookbooks. However, being a bit more experienced at cooking, I felt it wasn't really aimed at me.
While it's certainly more of a book for beginners and is therefore ideal for any new vegan, there are still admittedly few things, though not that many, that might appeal to a more experienced cook.
I have only given it 4 out of 5, because there really should be a subtitle stating that it is a book for beginners.

What a fantastic little book this is and you don't have to be vegan to enjoy the recipes because they are great as they are. My husband loves the chilli recipe and I can't make enough of it for him. And what a great idea to make shepherd's pie and lasagne in a slow cooker. I would never have even thought of that. The desserts are delicious too.
If you love having more time and to yourself and eating really healthy and tasty meals, then this is the book you need. It's full of receipes from around the world that you can just prepare, throw into the slow cooker and leave to cook all day. I just go to work after setting up the slow cooker and come home to a delicious smell and a meal that's cooked itself. Even on the weekends it's handy ... Read More:

Awful awful book. I don't need a "recipe book" that tells me how to create different varieties of veggie burger from pre-bought patties!!
But I don't know what I expected really after reading the first one!
I would recommend avoiding this book like the plague and going for something like Vegan with a Vengeance, La Dolce Vegan or Eat Drink & Be Vegan instead, for recipes that are actually worthwhile.

I have owned this book for several year,it was the first cookbook I bought after going vegan. I have used it so much it's falling apart and badly stained with chocolate and sauces. I highly recommend this book. It's refreshing, fun and the recipes are spectacular. I recently got married and moved to another country where vegan restaurants are zero.I have had to cook every day for me and my husband who had never had vegan food until I came along. I have impressed him so much with my cooking, most being recipes from this book, that he is now (mostly)vegan(he's working on the last bit).
If I can turn a meat-eating Dane, where the word vegan is only very recently being heard, with these recipes,I think that anyone will love them, too.
