My kids (ages 2 and 4) both love this book, but I have to admit that I bought it because I love Ogden Nash's poetry. The illustrations in this book are hilarious and full of action. They fit together very well with Nash's tale, and I think that the message this book gives about the difference between acting brave and being brave is appropriate for children.
I now have to get the other Custard book, "Custard the Dragon and the Wicked Knight."

This childrens book was one of the best books my twin 4 year olds really enjoyed and participated.English being their second language and mums first I wanted to introduce and extend their vocabulary.I find songs very successful in doing this but the combination of the book and CD was a success story as it combined image and sound..Magnificent art work ,the dragon theme a favourite with the boys and the music well...brilliant ,so easy for them to pick up the words and soothing sounds.Highly recommended for young children in general ,great gift idea and nice to see some things dont change in 35 years.

This is great for all children that love poems and especially ones with monsters and dragons etc. The pictures are great and in bright colours and the poems are all well written. It was a joy to ead with my young son and I'm sure his little sister will love it just as much when shes a bit older. A great buy!!

Our class really enjoyed reading this book. We read it about 5 times! We particularly liked the bit where the furniture was upside down on the ceiling of George's cave and when the dragon jumped out of his skin when he saw the little mouse. It made us laugh a lot! However, we disliked the pages which used too many 'ands'! Mrs Shoard and Class BS are not allowed to use this many 'ands' in our writing. Nonetheless, we did think this book was a fabulous read!

This book is fantastic for Mums who want to give their baby a veggie diet. I only wish I'd found it sooner! The book is divided into the different stages your baby goes through so it's easy to find recipes that will suit your babys age. The recipes are easy to follow and have all been a hit with my little one.

I bought this purely based on the strong reviews here. Thought it would be an amusing book for my 3 year old niece. Unfortunately I can't agree with the positive ratings at all - there is no storyline and so little content, it was over before it really started! I agree the illustrations are quite cute so a small toddler might enjoy looking at the pictures but I think you would have to make up your own story to make it funny or interesting. Even the rhyming phrases are quite weak. I also bought another book called Room on the Broom which is so much better.

This is a cracker of a picture book with striking bold pictures and a great story. The kingdom of Tarragonia has a refreshingly different dragon, a bubble-blower, of whom the king is rather embarrassed. The King advertises for a fire-breathing dragon and gets rather more than he bargained for. And Cinder the bubble-blower save the day of course. Hurray! A lovely story for the 2-5s.
