Let me begin by saying that Hamlet is truly an amazing play. By far, my favorite drama, Shakespearian or otherwise. Telling the story of a man searching for the light amid mind-boggling darkness, Hamlet reveals more about the conflicts people face in their own lifetimes than any other piece of literature.

This edition includes an introduction about the life of Shakespeare, including a completed works list, and even some words of his own creation. After the unabridged play, several very noteworthy critical reviews reveal more and more about Hamlet than any other comparable binding. At the price and information contained within in its pages, you simply cannot find a better edition of this awe-inspiring drama.

Books : Sounder

Sounder

by: William Howard Armstrong
1973

I just thought I should explain that clearly (hint, hint) after reading a few of the negative reviews. NOT a whole lot of singin' and dancin' going on in the south during Reconstruction, historically speaking that is. And this book doesn't make you feel "sad"...just oppressed...wait for it...ah, ha!...a masterpiece for all races, without a doubt. If younger readers don't get it, that might not be such a tragedy after all.

While heavy in theory this is a very important book that is worth the time and effort required to read it. It is a book that belongs on the reading list of every high school and trade school teacher, college instructors and career counselors, and on the desks of all mentors and CEOs - and politicians. That's right - ALL educators, ALL CEOs and ALL politicians. It is a concept that needs to reach students, protégés, parents and all segments of the workforce. In today's educational, business and political environments, the concept of true excellence has disappeared - and I can't help but believe it is because of a total ethics breakdown beginning with educators, business and political leaders, and sifting down to their students, managers, and employees. It all boils down to this: ... Read More:

Othello by William Shakespeare

"Othello" is a magnificent piece of literary work. The emotion Shakespeare can bring out of you is truly amazing. The plot has many moments of uniqueness and suspense. Kindle edition is my favorite.

Spiritual formation is nothing more than a repudiation of modernism, critical thinking, and use of the intellect. A spiritual formation Bible takes no interest in real exegesis of what the text actually means historically and grammatically, but only in some subjective, mystical nonsense.
Your mind would actually grow if you read Carl Sagan instead. Save yourself the money, and buy a good theological book by either of the Niebuhr brothers.

Ok - it's Shakespeare: points awarded. But I found myself loving the word play immensely. I was scratching notes in the columns - started my own word count when I found patterns... and then (as this was read for school) went head-first into the analytical essay to be written. Oddly - the instructor now has us working on a research paper which asks, "Did Shakespeare write Shakespeare?"
And a NOTE: I always wait to read any prologues or introductions AFTER I've read a text. I don't want the "authoritative voice" in the intro influencing my take on the book. But I do read them AFTER. This intro by Russell Fraser has to be the most inane blather I've found yet. It directly cops lines out of the play. And Fraser just makes himself giddy by musically rearranging words and paragraphs to no particular ... Read More:
