Sharon Gannon is one of the most inspiring teachers of our times. This book is for yoga teachers, yoga students and anyone interested in living a more compassionate and meaningful life. It give practical advice and explains the contradiction of calling yourself a yogi while participating in the cruel meat and dairy industry. It is inspiring and empowering as it demonstrates that each of us can and does make a difference. With every choice we make, every item we buy, we are voting for our future and the future of our planet.
Read it and buy it for your friends. Let us change the world together, one bite at a time!

While the recipes are vegan, THEY ARE NOT FREE FROM REFINED SUGARS AND HYDROGENATED OILS. I am guessing that 15 years ago, when the book was published, there was less concern about these sugars and fats. In the savory dishes, an easy substitute for margarine is any oil that you include in your diet...but as for the desserts, I would consult a different cookbook altogether, one that recognizes unrefined sugars as better for you.

Anyone who takes this book's advice will lose thier cat to death in 6 months...
Garenteed.
What else can you expect from a woman who wants to ban all pet ownership and Servuce animals for the disabled?
Yes, I am one of those "loathsome creatures" that enslaves a dog to be my eyes. If dear Ingrid had her way, my best friend in life would be taken away from me, and every other visually impaired person on earth who dared to have one.
I've always been curious about the animal liberation front and whether you agree or disagree with their tactics, it's still an interesting read.
It's a very unlikely story. A cop "turning to the other side" for the good of animals.
I highly recommend that you check this book out for yourself.

The Peta Celebrity Cookbook is a colorful cookbook, 100+ pages of recipes. They've got recipes from appetizers through desserts.
The recipes are from vegan and vegetarian celebrities, and are they REALLY DELICIOUS! I've tried Russell Simmons' "meat"loaf, Kevin Nealon's sweet roasted root veggies, and this PETA lady's Shepherd's Pie. WOW, my family (including a finicky toddler) loved them all.
These recipes are so great, you won't regret getting this cookbook. I've gotten rid of most of my cookbooks over the years, but this one is a total keeper.

The concept of the book is great as are most of the suggestions. However, my family does not have any pets (as per the parental unit) and my sister and brother were looking for some more practical ways we could help animals. I wish I had known that so many tips involved things you do with your own pet. Not only that, but we don't have neighbors with pets, so it would have been nice to see tips for people in those situations. I feel like the book is written more for the typical suburban family than an inner city family such as mine. I gave the book three stars because I liked the tips, they just were not very practial for me.

Non factual at best and a sensationalist diatribe about the evils of meat eaters and people who use animals and actually think that humans should be above animals on this ever shrinking planet. If you believe this book, wear leather or buy anything or use electricity or oil. You are a hypocrite.
