Inside-Out cheese sandwich??? Two slices of cheese, mayonnaise and a piece of bread??? Cheese slice wrapped around a pickle??? These are hardly ingenious, mouth-watering recipes! Peanut buttered popcorn?? And by the way, have these two registered dieticians heard that about 75% of all schools across the country don't allow peanut butter because of all the kids that are allergic to nuts?? I feel like a really dummy for buying this book - don't do the same!

This kids' cookbook starts with a brief and easy-to-understand discussion of nutrition. Safety tips for kid-cooks are included, as well as a handy illustrated glossary of kitchen tools and cooking terms.
But the "meat" of the book is the recipes. They are simple, fun, tasty and (don't tell the kids) good for you. There are sections on breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and dessert. Many of the recipes are assembly line cooking (take a banana, stick a clean popsicle stick in the end and freeze overnight for a frozen banana treat) that will be a snap for even the youngest cook. But don't get the idea that this is all "cooking for babies." There's a "Sunny Honey Banana Bread" recipe with sunflower seeds that I'm making for the family ... Read More:

I bought this for my six year old step-daughter when she started showing an interest in helping me cook family meals. She was thrilled to have her own cookbook. There are so many recipies in this book that even the pickiest eaters will find things that they want to make. The first recipie my step-daughter made was the ice cream cone cupcakes. They were easy for her to make with very little help and they were very good!
There are a great varity of recipies, many of which don't require much or even any cooking and many others which are for older kids or younger ones with some help. All the recipies my step-daughter has made have been fun and tasty.

I love cooking and cookbooks, and admittedly only bought this one to get to my $25 minimum for free shipping. That said, I was expecting SOMETHING better than this...
The couple of recipes I have treid are not great at all...bland, didn't come together correctly with the ingredients called for, and just are not anything special. I also hate the fact that they often use pre-packaged, processed foods (canned biscuit dough, canned soups, etc.)...ick!
Also, half the book is comprised of nutritional information and food pyramid info. Ironic, due to the abundance of processed ingredients that this book would attempt to focus so much on healthy eating.
