This is the best vegan book I've read so far. There is tons of information in this book that I couldn't find anywhere else, and it's nice to read about some sound science that backs a vegan lifestyle. If you are thinking of becoming a vegan or already are a vegan, this is a solid guide to help you better understand what foods to eat.

This book has so much information about converting to a plant based diet. It had all the info about the nutrition of vegetarians including what vegetarian diets tend to lack. It dispels all the nutritional rumors and has a handy guide on how to switch and how to deal with those who may chastize you. It even has recepies and cooking tips for the new vegetarian chef.
Whether you do it for your health, for your love of animals, or because you want something new, Becoming Vegetarian is definitly what I would recommend for those new to the switch.

This is a nice book if you are interested in transitioning to a higher % of raw foods in your diet. The tone is non-dogmatic and encouraging, with the co-authors offering various viewpoints and approaches to consider. The recipe section is large and varied. I recommend this book for those who are interested in including more non-cooked, high-enzyme foods in their diet.

I was very pleased with this cookbook, seeing recipes for things that I have been missing since being sensitive to numerous foods. Very comprehensive & helpful. Each basic recipe (lemon bread, etc) has several alternatives to create a different dish (like adding poppy seeds & making into muffins). The brownies were awesome & so was the pumpkin bread. The "Magical one-bowl muffins" are also great with 20 different variations for savory or sweet. Blueberry pancakes were great too!
I have a grain mill which makes these recipes very easy for me to make. I have whole grains/beans that I grind to make the flour. They have a suggestion for an all-purpose flour mix, which I make a double batch & keep in the freezer. I can whip everything ... Read More:

This is a wonderful resource for strictly vegetarian families or families with vegan children. This book is very informative and even has great vegan recipes to offer. However,I should agree with users who suggest that the title of this book should rather be "Raising vegan children". The item arrived very fast and in superb condition.

This book delivers on most of what it promises. It is a great book filled with sound nutritional advice for someone who wants to become a vegetarian. The book is well researched and very informative, but I'd only suggest it for someone with a very solid grasp on nutrition and vegetarianism already.
While a solid resource, it is farily jargonistic and a bit high end in its approach for a "casual vegetarian." The information is very detailed and at times feels a bit above a casual reader's frame of reference. I bought several books on healthy eating as a vegetarian the same time I bought this one; while the others didn't contain as much raw information, they were all MUCH easier to read. This book isn't very user friendly.
Of the many vegetarian recipes books I own, this is the one I return to the most. The recipes are delicious, turn out well consistently and have ingredients that I would normally have on hand. The nutritional information is listed with every recipe, which makes it easy to see at a glance, and the opening chapters are very informative about healthy eating. The recipes include enough spices to give them wonderful flavour without being too hot. A practical and inspiring book.
