I bought this book, along with Isa's 2 other cookbooks, and I love them all. The only downside is since I'm new to this lifestyle (vegan), I'm buying stuff that I dont normally keep on hand. I've made a handful of things out of here already...the corn chowder and the hot sauce glazed tempeh are AWESOME! I would definitely recommend this book!

I was disappointed in this book because of the language. I expected some, but it is over the top and unnecessary. I bought it for my daughter and she feels the same. A lot of the recipes are not practical for our families.

This book is wonderful, even if you get it just to look at the pictures. I'm new to the world of vegan baking, and I bought this along with Isa's 2 other cookbooks. I like that they give you useful information along with the recipes. I've made 2 cupcakes so far, I wasnt blown away by either one, but I plan to try some of the more interesting ones in here. You do need a lot of ingredients that the average baker doesnt normally have on hand, but I'm slowly stocking up so I can take over the world with my cupcakes!

I bought all three of Isa's cookbooks as a package, and along with the recipes, you get plenty of stories, information and advice. It's a big help to someone like me that is new to vegan cooking and baking. I would definitely recommend getting Veganomicon along with it though, that cookbook is awesome!

I just received my copy of Vegan Lunch Box after much anticipation. I was a fan of the blog that inspired the book and for some reason expected the format of the book to be similar, which is what appealed to me. Unfortunately, the entire book is laid out in a new way.
First of all, there are virtually no pictures (save for a special insert in the middle of the book), and none to accompany the recipes. There are very few set "menus" except in sections for special occasions and a few to kick off your thinking. Just looking through the chapters I was in awe at the far reaching extent of Vegan Fire & Spice ... Close to Callalou, Nigerian Peanut Soup, Majorcan Baked Vegetables, Turkish Eggplant, Moroccan Spiced Carrots, Vegetable Samosas, Vindaloo Vegetables, Fusian Asian Noodles, Hunan Fried Rice, Indonesian Coconut Rice ... I could easily go on as this cookbook has around 200 savory recipes. Yes, savory. There is tons of information in this book that I couldn't find anywhere else, and it's nice to read about some sound science that backs a vegan lifestyle. If you are thinking of becoming a vegan or already are a vegan, this is a solid guide to help you better understand what foods to eat.

I'm a vegetarian TOTALLY SICK OF CHEESE! I love cheese, but found myself putting cheese on everything as a meat substitute. I switched to toasted almonds, but this got boring too. Being not too enthusiastic about tofu, and recently going to a vegetarian restaurant which tried to re-create meat dishes with minimal success, this is a much better to approach to yummy vegetarian food...I don't miss the meat or cheese. Also, it's easy to substitute things. I often use almonds instead of pine nuts, or leave out a spice or two I don't have...makes little difference. Overall, a great book perfect for the bored vegetarian, and through making these dishes I've actually learned a lot about flavor profiles and combinations. All hail to the olive oil!
