This book has become my favorite cookbook over the years. Everything I have made from this book has been delicious and there are staple recipes from here that I make every week. Most impressive to me is the fact that the recipes are ultra healthy in addition to being delicious. There are many raw salad and cole slaw recipes that have no added oil. By far, the best vegetarian cookbook I've ever used.

When my partner found out she had Celiac disease, I was both relieved and anxious. As anyone who has been in this position can tell you, finally knowing what is making a loved one appear to be starving to death is good news. Even though it means there is no real cure, no surgery or pill to take to make it all better. What we did know is that certain foods made her sick and we weren't going to be eating those foods anymore.
So our journey began to find recipes for the new diet she (and I) were going to have in order that she begin healing and regaining her health. And that's where this book came in handy. I'm vegetarian, she eats turkey and fish. She can't do dairy or anything with gluten. So when I saw the title of this book I thought ... Read More:

Bryanna tackles Italian, a traditionally cream and cheese-rich culture, with as much authenticity as possible. Since Italian is a big part of Bryanna's heritage, as she details in this cookbook, she seems to handle each recipe with care and very detailed explanations for those of us who may not be intimately familiar with the makings of each dish.
Those who are vegan or simply egg-free will love her guide and recipes for making fresh pasta (yes, I said fresh egg-free pasta!); those who crave the rich flavors of cheese will delight in the alternative recipes for mascarpone, Parmesan, and ricotta (Bryanna typically provides soy-free, nut-free, and at times gluten-free options for staple recipes such as these); and those like myself will be ... Such a great cookbook; even a complete novice could follow and execute these recipes successfully. Better than most vegetarian cookbooks- Not the "same old recipes"!

This book has been an eye-opener in every way for my daily cooking. I own so many different cookbooks, but this and her other books are the only one I use now. Her recipes are very easy to prepare, and very very tasty! She is a busy mom for two little kids, which I also am, and her recipes are very low in fat and wholesome, which I look for in recipes. I like the way that she not only shows us how to make delicious food in the most simple way but also adds quite a few comments and notes to each recipe as to how we can re-create various other menus with leftovers. It's definitely worth it to have one whether you are a vegan or not. (My husband is a serious meat-eater, but enjoys her recipes a LOT!)

I borrowed this book from the library and now I am buying it. I am a new vegetarian trying very hard to go vegan. I have purchased several good books but this one has so much more information.
Some reviewers criticized the use of brand names, but as a newbie, I appreciate the help. I spent two weeks wandering around a health food store trying to find "egg replacement." I couldn't find it and the clerks could not help me. They kept leading me to the real egg-white products. Finally, with the name "Ener-G" they directed me right to it.
I read this book cover to cover and found lots of great information. The Glossary of Ingredients was most helpful. Many vegan cookbooks recommend the use of Bragg's Liquid Aminos as a substitute ... Read More:

I just got this book and have not tried any of the recipes yet so I can't review them. But I spent hours looking at the recipes and there are a few things I've noticed that I think other vegans/cooks need to be alerted to.
First off, the recipes in this book are from her three other books. So if you have those, you don't need this one. I didn't realize that and already had one of her books so a lot of recipes are repeats for me.
My next warning is about what is missing from this book...not a single recipe tells you how much it makes or serves. As one of the books these recipes come from is Vegan Cooking for One, be warned.
Not a single recipe comes with nutritional/calorie information.
