The Vegan Kitchen, by Freya Dinshah of the American Vegan Society (the country's oldest) is my favorite vegan cook book. It has a nice folksy feel to it, with easy, good recipes; along with nutrition tips for vegans.

Cooking from this cookbook has been a delight. My girlfriend and I have cooked perhaps ten recipes from the pages of this Vegan gem. I can say comfortably that none of the recipes we've cooked are anything less than extremely tasty.
Ingredients can tend towards being expensive; the stroganoff we cooked last night, for instance, would have called for $24 worth of dried porcini mushrooms if we'd followed the recipe exactly. Recipes are not necessarily written for the beginning cook, but are not horribly complicated and have all yielded good results without much deviation from the original recipe.
This is a cookbook that I have recommended to non-Vegans as a way to demonstrate that Vegan food is no less delicious than any ... Read More:

Angeline Linardis is a vegan chef and food educator who wants to make vegan cooking accessible and appealing to everyone. Her debut cookbook "V Cuisine" isn't just for vegans, it's for anyone wanting innovative, healthy, and - most of all - delicious meals.
The book is divided up into lots of short sections featuring either a particular ingredient - like Terrifying Tofu, Potato Oasis, and Pasta Perfection; or a meal - Anytime Appetizers, Breakfast Bites, and Modern Mains; or a dish - The Scoop on Soups, Sexy Salads, or Courageous Curries. The recipes are fun and innovative. I particularly liked the section of Life of the Party Fare. I can't wait to invite some ... Read More:

i lived through the time spoken about in this book and it shares many good memories with the reader. The recipes are straightforward vegan fare but good enough to eat. I found it the sort of book you could pick up and open on any page and read about how bands like Green Day and NOFX played in Dublin with no contracts and to crowds of 50 people. You can then try the recipe associated with that gig and feel part of this wonderful punk rock community

Kristen Suzanne's Raw Vegan Holiday's is loaded with the most fabulous recipes. Her pumpkin pie is out of this world. I am eating the last piece as I am writing this review. Oh excuse me for a minute while I wipe my fingers. YUM!!! I say last piece because my husband and I were eating this last night and watching an old movie. It is a recipe you do not want to share but know that people are going to find out anyway. So I might as well be the HERO. Her recipes are to die for and easy to make. My kids love everything I have made so far. I made the "BOO" Halloween Hummus for the kids at school and they loved it. Then her Oktoberfest Raw German Chocolate Brownines went to my husbands work. The empty plate came back with a note saying, whats for tomorrow? Because it is ... Read More:

I'm always looking for new cookbooks. I have battled diabetes for years. This book has stabalized my blood sugar and brought my weight down by 23 pounds! Furthermore, I've enjoyed eating for the first time in many years. The recipes don't seem like "health food," to me. They're just plain delicious! Thank you Ms. Alexander!
