I bought all three of Isa's cookbooks as a package, and along with the recipes, you get plenty of stories, information and advice. It's a big help to someone like me that is new to vegan cooking and baking. I would definitely recommend getting Veganomicon along with it though, that cookbook is awesome!

I own several of Robin Robertson's cookbooks, but this one is my favorite. It is, in fact, my favorite cookbook period. Everything I have ever made from it has turned out well and been eaten happily by children. There is no higher cookbook praise than that. This book is so exhaustive in its repertoire that there is always something for any occasion. I also like (and use) the many sauces and dairy replacements (like the creamy whipped topping and egg-and-butterless hollandaise) even if I'm not making something specific from the book. This cookbook is exhaustive in scope so it is my go-to for just about everything. My wife and I justed started the life style of being Vegan. She purchased The complete Vegan Cook book to help her get started. She loves it. She says it has Great recipes, it's easy to follow and we both agree the recipes are great tasting. It has been fun for us trying out a new way to a healthy lifestyle. The constant ingredient in most recipes in this cookbook is maple syrup. While using maple syrup in recipes is not unusual for vegan baking, needing it for most of these recipes tends to get outrageously expensive. It's not my first choice when reaching for a vegan dessert cookbook. There are NO pictures in this cookbook.
I own six or seven books by this author, in the same series. They all intrigue me because you can find in them recipes that you will not find anywhere else. They are very interesting. On the negative side, these recipes don't always produce clean, simple flavors (the kind of flavor you would associate with mediterranean cooking, for example). They often ask for many ingredients, which easily produces a repetitive "melange" taste.

I bought this book for my vegan husband. He did not like some of the recommendations for recipes as they weren't all natural foods. Otherwise, I think it's a good book to have and share with non-vegans.

I purchased this book a few years ago and of all the recipes I tried within, I cannot begin to describe how delicious each recipe was. The blend of spices in each recipe brings forth explosive flavor and pleasure. I would have to honestly say this book is the most used in my assortment of vegan cookbooks. The "Spring Onion Soup" is literally to die for and I could go on and on about many other recipes. It is obvious that the authors are very knowledgeable in this field of cookery and they pass along to each of us a wealth of fine dining treats which are very easy to make and rich with flavor.
