I can't say I've looked at this particular title, but I have looked at several others of the enormous number of books that the author has churned out (and made the mistake of buying the Mexican book), and I imagine that this is more of the same. Each book is simply a collection of recipes - often not very good ones - without a single word of explanation or information anywhere. What I can't understand is the popularity they seem to have in Britain. Every other bookshop's vegetarian cookery section is stacked with copies of the various titles. As they cost, if my memory serves me correctly, £5.99, I can only assume people buy them because they're cheap, but I don't think they would be worth having if they were being given away free.

This book is great. It was the first cookbook I ever used when my husband and I began eating whole foods, no meat or dairy, etc. to lower high cholesterol. I don't think we could have continued unless we had found this cookbook - and it's been three years. Wonderful, inventive dishes! Great buy. (And guess what? We have really low cholesterol and plenty of energy!)

The recipes are probably fine but so far I haven't tried them. I have ordered quite a few vegetarian books lately and this is one I was a bit disappointed in. I grew up in NY and do miss deli food!

This is one of my favorite everyday vegan cookbooks. It has great 'oh I never thought of making that vegan-style' recipes that taste fantastic, are quick to make and use ingredients that you more than likely already have in your pantry.
If you're new to the vegan world, Vegan Vittles has some great vegan primer info touching on everything from vegan ethics to a breakdown on basic vegan cooking ingredients.
The book itself is well-written and well-organized, which are both ridiculously important to me (typos in cookbooks make me want to pull my hair out). This is definitely a book for vegan chefs of all levels and perfect for those that just want to eat a little bit healthier. Love it!

I'm a vegetarian TOTALLY SICK OF CHEESE! I love cheese, but found myself putting cheese on everything as a meat substitute. I switched to toasted almonds, but this got boring too. Being not too enthusiastic about tofu, and recently going to a vegetarian restaurant which tried to re-create meat dishes with minimal success, this is a much better to approach to yummy vegetarian food...I don't miss the meat or cheese. Also, it's easy to substitute things. I often use almonds instead of pine nuts, or leave out a spice or two I don't have...makes little difference. Overall, a great book perfect for the bored vegetarian, and through making these dishes I've actually learned a lot about flavor profiles and combinations. All hail to the olive oil!

I wish I had read Maya's review sooner (see earlier post)!!
I found this on the shelf of a Wild Oats grocery. It was an impulse purchase because I needed a vegan cookbook in a hurry after deciding to go off meat and dairy for health reasons. Once I took the time to examine this book more closely, I realized I had made a major mistake in trusting that Wild Oats would have a good vegan cookbook for sale.
I totally agree with Maya Saran. She has very precisely described the problems with this book's tone and recipes. I couldn't cook most of the recipes without a major shopping trip, or a specialty order from an internet store. I am so glad I saved my receipt - this book is being returned as soon as possible!
I found this book to be very user friendly, full of easy to prepare, yummy, tasty, nutritious recipes suitable for vegans and vegetarians. My personal favourite is the chocolate pudding. Heavenly!
