This is the book for you if you want quick veggie foods without sacrificing taste. The recipes really work, not a lot of prep time, useful alternatives given with each recipe, great time-saving tips. We have tried most of the recipes, some becoming repeat family favorites!

This book is great. It was the first cookbook I ever used when my husband and I began eating whole foods, no meat or dairy, etc. to lower high cholesterol. I don't think we could have continued unless we had found this cookbook - and it's been three years. Wonderful, inventive dishes! Great buy. (And guess what? We have really low cholesterol and plenty of energy!)

I am always looking for great vegetarian ideas. So many of the cookbooks that I've read are filled with dozens of ways to cook tofu but it's my experience that if you don't like tofu you just can't disguise it. I have a non-vegetarian family who is willing to eat my vegetarian meals so long as they taste good and they don't contain tofu. Hence, my never ending search.
I was pleasantly surprised by The Vegetarian Lunchbasket. First off, it has over 225 recipes. Many contain tofu but there's also a lot of variety. There are plenty of snacks and full meals that I can serve and no one feels cheated or hungry afterwards.

Some of the recipes are okay. Unfortunately, almost every recipe in this book needs to be reworked somehow. Though generally veggie-friendly, the recipes are completely UNHEALTHY! Lots of heavy cream, eggs, whole-fat cheese, mayonnaise, etc., are featured in this book. Many of the recipes, if you lighten them or substitute, are fantastic. However, if you are not a seasoned vegetarian and not used to doing this for every other cookbook you own, this book is not for you. If you are a new vegetarian, start somewhere else!

Yo soy vegetariana estricta (vegana o que no consume ningun producto de origen animal, ni leche, huevos, etc.) y mi esposo es un carnivoro desenfrenado que fue criado sin comer muchas verduras, por ende consume mucha grasa animal y hay muchisimos vegetales que no conoce. Con este libro he logrado derribar sus prejuicios respecto a que las verduras son intrÃnsecamente malas. He logrado que coma muchas legumbres, que no las conocia ni de nombre y de paso he adquirido la capacidad de crear platos que se lucen en cualquier fiesta o reunión social.
Las recetas son buenÃsimas, y me encanta la recopilación de recetas italianas, griegas, mexicanas y de tantos otros paÃses.
