This really is a great cookbook. Easy to follow recipes (although some ingredients are hard to find in a small town in the middle of nowhere, where we live), and everything tastes good. I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to expand their cooking.

Like the review "Worth it for the Pad Thai recipe" - which is true - to me it could also be worth it for the Satay Peanut Sauce recipe. I have become obsessed with this sauce and add it to tofu and a large assortment of vegetables several times a week. It is absolutely delicious and satisfies me more than anything else; it is sweet, rich, spicy, salty, and tangy all at once! I have been eating it as part of the Schwarzbein Principle Program (low carb, high veg) and have been losing weight even using regular full-fat coconut milk. This satisfies my need for sweetness. The Paht Thai recipe is also superb. A really fun and delicious cookbook!

I use the well used phrase, 'if you can only buy 1 book, make it this one' because it deserves the praise. I use this book often, at least once a week to prepare meals for my family. They are easy to prepare, ingredients are readily available, no extra shopping trip necessary if you include fresh produce in your weekly groceries. Most importantly, the recipes are very economical and the end results are delicious, consistently.
Recipes are satisfying, we never feel like something more substantial is missing. The 'i-tüpfelchen', (the extra cherry on the creme) is the caloric and nutritional information.
A wonderful book for starters if you are just beginning your vegetarian journey. It includes recipes for lacto-ovo vegetarians as ... Read More:

Having enjoyed this author's recipes from an old Gourmet magazine, I was delighted to find she had a book with more options. Many are quick to prepare, and all are full of good healthy eating.

I first read this in junior high, when I tried being a vegetarian the first time. I loved it and I learned a lot from it. When I returned to vegetarianism as a young adult, I read it again. Although I'm not a teenager anymore, I feel the book is still a handy guide for making the difficult transition to being a vegetarian a lot easier. When people question the food you eat or don't eat and challenge your beliefs on the subject, it can be hard -- this book offers advice for what to do and say in all sort of situations, educates you on nutrition, and gives you basic ideas for meals. "A Teen's Guide to Going Vegetarian" doesn't assume you have a lot of money, time, or resources for food shopping and meal preparation (as teenagers and adults alike usually don't), ... Read More:

Every recipe I have made from this cookbook has come out beautiful. Not only do the recipes create great flavor, but they are different from any other source of soup recipes that I have found. The author has a talent for combining ingredients to create a vibrant taste to the senses.

As a partner in a mixed marriage (one vegetarian, one omnivore), I've often wondered how to cook for both of us - and how to show my husband the fun and merit of leaving meat out of the equation. More importantly, I've wondered how to think in bilingual terms. Usually I have to grit my teeth when surrounded by meat eaters, which is most of the time. How do you explain your moral choice? The last sections of the book show, with just enough detail about the meat industry's practices, why most of us vegetarians choose a plant-based diet. And how do you explain that you're not deprived or slightly anemic? I think any omnivore who read this book would emerge reassured, piqued, and eager to get into the kitchen and try some ... Have you ever wondered how people from around the world prepare vegetarian dishes. Then this book is for you. The author collected over 130 recipes from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. None of the recipes ask for an excessive amount of different ingredients and everything can be found in local food stores. Preparation times are mostly kept under 30 minutes so you don't have to slave all day in the kitchen just to make a healthy meal. The only downside to this book is that there are no pictures of the actual recipes. In my opinion every good cookbook needs to have a picture for every recipe so you can visualize what it is that you are trying to prepare.
But overall this is an interesting recipe collection and well worth checking out.
