The is a very nice musical instrument, just as the other reviews have stated. I got one for my five-year old niece, who lives out of state. I was a little worried that it might be heavy and therefore expensive to send. But the "Angel" Glockenspiel is pretty light, so it will be a chinch to ship out, and for her to carry it with her. It's pretty sturdy, has an easy to open and there are no loose parts (except for the mallets, of course).
Yes, there are two full octaves, starting with "G" ("Sol"), and I was surprised to find all the sharps and flats, too! There's also some little stickers with the "do", "re", "mi"-s on them. First, I had NO IDEA HOW TO PLAY the guitar before I ordered this 'cheap' guitar and had it shipped to Afghanistan where I am currently stationed. It arrived FAST, which is great. It arrived in good shape, which means that the packaging is good. After I put it together (strings anyway) I busted the small string (whichever one that is). Fifteen minutes later and a little theft from a buddies string stash I had my guitar strung and tuned.
Since there are hundreds of podcasts on how to play a guitar for free and books all over this base on how to play the guitar - I am proud to say that I can now 'get by' with a a few tunes. I do not play the harmonica as such, I like to play with it. I bought the Hohner Special 20 'key of C' here on Amazon. I also bought a 'key of G' elsewhere (it was not available on Amazon at the time) just to cover a little wider range. I also like to play with a guitar.
I have played with some cheaper plastic harmonicas. From my limited knowledge, these Honers create more vibrant sound with less effort on both in and out breaths than anything I had used before. My first expression was 'wow', after I blew out just one note. For the novice, like me, this Honer has ten 'holes' that will create one note on the 'out breath' an a different one the 'in breath'. Hohner Marine Band, Hohner Special 20 and Lee Oskar Major Diatonic harps fit well in this case. Hohner's Big River Harp does NOT fit properly in the case - it is longer than the others, and doesn't snug in. I'll either return the case or order two Lee Oskars to replace my two Big River models. Or, I can just deal with the fact that they don't fit quite properly, but probably "good enough". Decisions, decisions.
Haven't played the toy harps yet, first things first. I bought the case for the case, not for the included harps. >>More Details |

This is a great harmonica, and even for a beginner who is learning to bend, I haven't broken it in months. Obviously this is not the "Ferrari" of harmonicas (I've heard that about the new Suzukis) but it is one of the best.
