I bought this keyboard a couple of months ago cos I was looking for a good controller keyboard to use with Reason. It turned out to be perfect for the job. The keybaord has a number of presets for a variety of music software programs including Reason...which will save you time assigning the 8 knobs and 9 sliders. The build quality is solid and the feel is good. The knobs are comfortably spaced out so you can easily get into your grove. This melodica is nice because it's cheaper than Hohner's fancy professional models. And you don't lose much, it seems: it sounds like a melodica should sound, and it can be played with a reasonable degree of musicality, even by a novice like myself. The instrument comes with a little gig bag and two mouthpieces (a short one and a flexi-tube one). The construction and materials are of acceptable quality, I have no complaints.
Those of us with finicky ears are going to want to have this thing tuned, though. Music stores dealing in folk instruments ought to be able to do this, for a fee, or one can find DIY tuning instructions on the internet. This is probably the closest thing to a real electric guitar for my 8 year old at a much more reasonable price. It comes with an amplifier, extra strings and picks and sounds terrific. It is sturdy and I can tell will last much longer than the cheaper 19.95 toy guitars of which my son has gone through a bout 3 already.
Only problem is it does not come with the cord to connect the guitar with the amplifier which you'll need to buy separately. Not a big deal. >>More Details |

We bought this guitar a year ago for our 12 year old daughter. It plays very well, and the strings haven't broken since. The only thing I would worry about when buying it is that the paint chips really easily. I remember one time our 6 year old son accidently hit it against the wall and the paint chipped a little piece off. But if your really careful with it, you'll enjoy playing this a lot. For beginners, I suggest buying an electronic tuner, because the tuner they give you doesn't really help you tune a guitar that well. xDD
