Count me as a thrilled ex-Corel (Paintshop Pro X2) user. After Corel decided to charge their loyal customers $50 for RAW file support updates I moved on.
I can't compare PE7 against PE6 and probably don't need to. Lots of users seem to be doing that already. I can compare against Paintshop Pro X2 though. You'll often hear Corel PSPX2 users take pride in their ability to get things done quickly without having to worry about Adobe's complicated workflow. "Let them have their Photoshop, we're getting real work done" is common. The other believe that has been held is that the Elements brand is for novices only, because Adobe won't ever add the truly powerful features from PS. I think PE7 destroys both these arguments, to be honest. ... Read More:

This is the first time I've used a full-fledged photo editing program. In the past I merely used Paint to resize pics for my website. With Photoshop Elements I can do much more. But since I'm new to the program, I'm doing the equivalent of merely driving to the grocery store in a Lamborghini. Once I get familiar with the program, I'll hit top speed on the open road. I love the way Photoshop retrieves my pics from my iPhone and how it archives photos to their website. However, 2Gb of space is just not enough! I still haven't tried Premiere Elements yet, but I'm working on it!

If you have a Mac running OS 10.5.4 or 10.5.5 (or above) you should be aware that NONE of the Photoshop Elements software versions--including 6-- is compatible with it. It won't work.

I used photo editing software before, mainly free ware like "gimp" or software that comes with your digital camera. I'm not a power user, I still have to learn how to work with "layers" but so far I've found the basic options, layout and editing tools to be easy to use.
I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium Service pack 1. Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz with 3.00 GB of Ram, video chip accelerator and 90 GB free space. For other users running vista; my pc has a rating of 3.4
I read other reviewers said the system does run a bit slow during certain operations, the only time I noticed the software to run a bit slow (average 2 seconds) seconds is when I'm making overall changes, changes such as changing the color of the picture ... Read More:

I love this software! There are so many different things you can do to your photos and plenty of online user guides to help you step by step. My computer runs just fine with this program running.... though I have a gaming system so it's already pretty fast. Over all.... GREAT PRODUCT! Shipping wasn't the quickest but worth the wait!

The upgrade box costs more with every upgrade but there is less in it. Amazon frequently shows what's in the box, not here, however, probably because the only thing in the box is the CD/DVD. No more printed manual. Adobe is staking back on what it delivers. Some new features, but hardly worth the price.

Great product. Purchasing was easy and quick. Bought from a new vendor, but very pleased. If you buy Elements 6 there is a book called "Teach yourself visually" by Mike Wooldridge that is really simple to follow.

I use a Canon HG10 which only records in HD using the AVCHD standard. The SW that came doesn't come close to allowing you to do much editing/DVD making. With this camera it is easy to copy the video files from HG10 to my computers HD then I begin using the editing tool.
I compared this to several others you can find on the net: Ulead, Pinnacle, cyberlink and maybe a few others. I can tell you, without a doubt the Sony SW is so much faster. That means I don't need a super powerful computer to do all the editing and making of a DVD. It also doesn't crash like many of the competitor editors. Cost is roughly the same and you have a 30 day trial period. One disadvantage is this SW is a bit more difficult to use--maybe it just has a higher learning curve. Overall I'm very ... Read More:

Lightroom 2 is a great upgrade from Lightroom 1. With many of the new features it has, you will find that your trips into Photoshop will become less & less frequent.
The print module is now excellent, with it's new improved output sharpening feature.
After a short course on photoshop (PS) for photographers, Lightroom 2 (recommended by the instructor who is a professional photg.) has just the right amount of tools for the photographer with out the overkill (and expense) of PS, unless you are a graphics artist.
The package is void of any details re installation or an operations manual. An outside vendors manual is a requirement. Try The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby. Very comprehensive and easy to implement.
If you are planning on shooting in RAW this package is a must do, although some of the same processes are available in PS Elements. This package is much more then PS Elements and volume oriented for processing many photos at once.
