I've been doing genealogy on and off for years, and haven't used FTM for a while. I've been rebuilding my family history [...] and decided it was time to get desktop software, and decided to get FTM 2009 because I figured it would make things easier to switch back and forth. Now, I've been using computers since I was a child, and am quite comfortable with them, but I am having a terrible time navigating around this software. It does not recognize sources that I linked to people in Ancestry, and keeps giving me hints for these sources. I am having to go in, person by person, and ignore all these hints so I don't have the little leaf on every single person. The help files have not been useful, and the email I sent has yet to be answered. I am ... Read More:

Installed the program and first run got a pop-up telling me that my machine was using large fonts and that items wouldn't display properly unless I changed to small fonts and rebooted my machine. I have a vision problem and have to use large fonts. Unfortunately, I had to send the program back.

I consider myself pretty techie but this software is hard to use. I see a recipe I'd like to add to my menu plan and I have to go out of the cookbook and back into the menu plan and add it. I'm not expecting drag and drop (although how cool would that be?) but tedious to build a plan. Then menu plan vs. meal plan and confusing term swaps. It also wants to add ingredients in it's own way--making me tab through to add things the way I want (cheese in ounces vs. slices). Maybe I didn't study it enough but I've just been very challenged in using it so far. I'm sticking with my pencil and paper and xerox copies of recipes I like!

I am a beginning scriptwriter and I found the software easy to use, and undestandable - however, it does on occasion crash, so I put my automatic save at 3 minutes. Also, you have to think twice when saving, because the fdr files can only be edited in Final Draft, so you need to make a rich text backup as well. But, let me tell you if you are looking for a way to save time - this is the product you want to get

This is the most creative upgrade to Family Tree Maker, well, ever. Functionality is greatly improved, graphics, instant "hints", reporting, "uploadability" and much more. The downsides are only a few: 1) freezes more than it should; 2) double dates (1711/1712, etc) not only don't apear automatically, they can't even be inserted manually; 3) takes a bit more self trainning to find everything you're accustomed to using. The optional trainig manual "The Official Guide to Family Tree Maker 2009" is a must. Genealogy Networks has been helpful so far when I've gotten completely stuck on a few issues. Get their phone number and call.....I really don't find the self help guides very 'self-helping'! All in all, it's worth the time and effort if ... Read More:

I have been on a lifelong search through comic stores across the country for Star Trek comic books. Never to purchase, as that would burn a decent hole into my already empty pocket, but simply to glance through the pages and read the stories in a manner so much more different than what I was used to. Comics are fun to read, and they offer a unique vision of a story and its characters. Imagine my surprise when I learned there was a compilation DVD in the works for the Star Trek comic series!
I have glanced through a good chunk of the comics included in this set, and am pleased as punch to see these stories again. Some of my favorites included the Mirror Universe Saga, the Tabukan Syndrome, the parallel universe Borg invasion, and of course Peter David's ... Read More:

I am pleased with the companies notification to me that my copy was damaged in shipping. Unfortunately, they did not have a replacement for me. They were very prompt in informing me of the "BAD" news. I had downloaded a trial version from microsoft to "test drive" the program and it works great. Thanks.

The cards print fold well and show good color for a matte finish. But for some reason they have a very hard time feeding in my Epson printer. I have to help them one sheet at a time.
