I had quit using Norton for the last few of years. I needed a new Internet Security Suite and Norton 2009 was rated at or near the top of all the ratings I checked. Norton did especially well with independent lab tests. (There are so many companies trying to look independent, so it takes some effort to find truly independent tests.)
Norton found a "Trojan" my old Suite did Not find (Kaspersky). It also Scans much faster.

Amazon had this for $29.99 in a gold box special and it isn't even worth that. If you want the most bang for your buck in virus protection, stick with Norton. McAfee can't hold a candle to it.

The product fails to install on Vista Business 64-bit (with 8 GB memory installed). The DEP (data execution prevention) trap handler aborted the installation.
I guess I'll need to find another anti-virus solution.
When Mac introduced Intel chips they opened the door to finally be able to run PC software on the Mac. I rushed out and bought Parallels. When Parallels was the only game in town it was great. Sure Parallels crashed sometimes, and would often lose its internet connection. But it was great to be able to run PC's.
Now you have an established visualization leader, VMWare in the game. I've rarely seen VMWare crash or drop its internet connection. You're still not going to run 3d windows games at full power/extreme performance. But for everything short of video games, this product does quite well.
VMWare lets me use hardware that just does not support my Mac. I can plug in my TomTom, programmable remote control, Lego Mindstorms ... Read More:

P.S. I accidentally hit three stars and the review form would not let me change it to two stars.
Last year I bought Dragon Naturally Speaking 9 Preferred for my son. He had no trouble installing it, did mention that the program was "scary smart," and now says it makes his job easier and he uses it constantly. For many months I have been toying with the idea of getting one for myself as it is getting difficult for me to type because of pain in my hands; however, I have been using computers for about 20 years now so am very familiar with the ups and downs of software support - who provides it and how good it is. I always check a product's support pages before purchasing their product(s) - sometimes I DO learn from experience.
wow I have only had this product for a day and a half. And I am very very impressed with it. The installation of the product(dragon) only took about 10 minutes to install. The voice recognition took about another 10 to fully understand my voice patterns. Actually it started understanding my voice within the first 1 to 2 seconds. I already sent out a ton of e-mails to friends and family. Telling them about this product. All of them are super impressed that for the most part I never even have to touch the keyboard. Most of them have seen my previous e-mails and no that I'm not the greatest typer in the world and misspell words quite a bit. They are impressed of how accurate this software is. For a person like me with a reading disability. This product I would have to say is the best ... Read More:

I upgraded from 3.0 to 4.0 and I'm very sorry that I did. My Virtual Machine used to run fast and smoothly, however, since I upgraded it's running like a dog. Sometimes it'll freeze up my mouse and my entire computer while it is "thinking". After about 30 seconds things go back to normal but this never happened to me before with v3.0. They say there is a 50% speed boost but overall my experience is the opposite. In my opinion they should have tested this some more before they released it. They have some innovative features but the product just isn't ready yet.
Also, a quick note about the graphics; Half-Life 2 is still basically unplayable even at 640x480 with lowest settings on my iMac. Haven't tried any older games but I'm definitely not impressed. :(
I've been using True Image Home 2009 for about a month. I've had a couple of problems and Acronis Tech Support has been abysmal. I've had trouble backing up to DVD's (the software stops recognizing my DVD player after a couple of DVD's have been written to.) Also, the software writes to one of my USB drives as if it's a DVD - dividing up the backup into about 30, 4 gb files. I've tried contacting tech support but have had no luck so far. I have received messages that they are too busy and can't respond to my inquiries - "sorry for the inconvenience." The software seems to do what it says but I have trouble recommending it because of the poor customer service.

I highly recommend Kaspersky over McAfee and Norton. I've used all three products and Kaspersky is the only one that has not slowed down my computer and still be effective. However, I did have an issue with the program in August 2008. The product completely stopped working and my PC Tools Spyware Doctor program caught the virus before it spread, but it originate from Kaspersky. THe product works but customer service needs some major work.
