This is an awesome product. It is easily backward compatible with previous versions of Office. It is much more user friendly and much easier to personalize buttons and toolbars to how one person uses word. I highly recommend it.

I own an aluminum 24" iMac (3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM) and a Black Macbook (2.4 GHz Intel, 4GB RAM) and I naively thought Microsoft Office 2008 for the Mac would be "equivalent" to the Windows/PC version and was I ever so surprised. Being a Windows-based MS Office user for decades, I thought that the Mac version would closely mirror the Windows edition. Hmmm...not so much. The basic functionality of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Entourage (a PIM which I don't use) is there, but this version does not seem as full-featured or as stable as the Windows version. It's a mild adjustment - the ribbon from Office 2007 is not there and most commands are located in drop down menus - which is not the sleekest method, but functional nonetheless. ... Read More:

Quickbooks 2009 still fails miserably when it comes to interoperability with past versions. Also, the multiple ways to save, share, or backup a file are a throwback to software ala 1990. A related issue is that these files are probably much larger than they need to be. Furthermore, the software is always trying to impose Web access on the user, often for marketing purposes. Moreover, I tried the online banking feature, but my bank apparently was not ready for 2009. In my opinion, this product still does not meet modern standards for software quality. I wish there was a widely-used alternative.

I had quit using Norton for the last few of years. I needed a new Internet Security Suite and Norton 2009 was rated at or near the top of all the ratings I checked. Norton did especially well with independent lab tests. (There are so many companies trying to look independent, so it takes some effort to find truly independent tests.)
Norton found a "Trojan" my old Suite did Not find (Kaspersky). It also Scans much faster.

Count me as a thrilled ex-Corel (Paintshop Pro X2) user. After Corel decided to charge their loyal customers $50 for RAW file support updates I moved on.
I can't compare PE7 against PE6 and probably don't need to. Lots of users seem to be doing that already. I can compare against Paintshop Pro X2 though. You'll often hear Corel PSPX2 users take pride in their ability to get things done quickly without having to worry about Adobe's complicated workflow. "Let them have their Photoshop, we're getting real work done" is common. The other believe that has been held is that the Elements brand is for novices only, because Adobe won't ever add the truly powerful features from PS. I think PE7 destroys both these arguments, to be honest.
If you play the game regularly, sure it's convenient to sign up with the bliz plans. But, why pay the tax bliz charges when you can pay the same rate (or better, if you normally go shorter plans) by getting this from Amazon? Always makes a great gift, and never spoils in the mail.
Plus, with the recent release of the expansion (Wrath of the Lich King), your gamer may need a few of these.

Basically beware. You WILL have to do a complete clean install. Once you do so, many applications that formally worked fine, will no longer. Some will not even work with the new system. Many apps will need to you re-install, others will ask you again for serial numbers and activations. Make sure you have all those numbers handy. Sorry for those who have "borrowed" applications, chances are, you'll never be able to use them again.
I had gotten Leopard as a door prize at a motion graphics event. It took me a year to have a free weekend where I thought why not. Why not turned into about three weeks of trouble-shooting, borrowing wired keyboards from work and having to turn down freelance projects because I had to re-install apps, re-install the plug ins and even at ... This is a very good mapping program. It is easy to install and register. Making a trip plan is very easy and there are a lot of options for length of day, speed, and extra stops. If anything could be improved, more hotel brands and restaurants could be included. I would recommend this program to anyone looking for a better than average mapping solution.

Amazon had this for $29.99 in a gold box special and it isn't even worth that. If you want the most bang for your buck in virus protection, stick with Norton. McAfee can't hold a candle to it.
