Quickbooks 2009 still fails miserably when it comes to interoperability with past versions. Also, the multiple ways to save, share, or backup a file are a throwback to software ala 1990. A related issue is that these files are probably much larger than they need to be. Furthermore, the software is always trying to impose Web access on the user, often for marketing purposes. Moreover, I tried the online banking feature, but my bank apparently was not ready for 2009. In my opinion, this product still does not meet modern standards for software quality. I wish there was a widely-used alternative.

The only reason I gave this only 4 stars is because I found it a bit difficult to use right out of the box. I used Money for so many years that I found Quicken a bit confusing a first. Made many errors in the beginning. Quicken help desk is great which I would give them 5 stars.

Quicken Home and Business 2009 is really loaded with bugs. After installation it tells you to get the upgrade to R2, which will hang permanently while it looks for MS Outlook. Quicken support told me to uninstall and then refuse the upgrade. The online banking is so bad I uninstalled ... Read More:

I was forced to upgrade to 2008 or I would no longer be able to get payroll updates or email invoices. Despite paying each year for a payroll subscription on top of paying for the 2008 upgrade I did not need or want, I can not email invoices, can only print sometimes, and the payroll function malfunctioned and paid all of my employees their gross earnings without taking out any taxes. Was unable to get any support. They wanted to charge me to talk to someone even though it was their own product that was broken. I have lost thousands of dollars in unbillable time spent cleaning up their mess and now have to find another way to send my invoices. THIS COMPANY DESERVES TO GO BANKRUPT - THEY SUCK IN EVERY WAY.

I've been using Quicken for many years. I generally upgrade every two years to see what's new, so I went from Premier 2007 to 2009. I haven't seen any new feature that means anything to me, the UI is less appealing than the previous UI, and 2009 had an annoying bug that they just fixed in r3. In summary, I like Quicken, but if you already have it, stick with what you have.

Don't buy this product if you want to track your loans. The only account types you can set up are regular banking accounts and credit cards.

I was wary of trying this when I saw all of the bad reviews, but after buying and using it for 4 months, I don't regret purchasing it. True, it seems a little disjointed, but once you remember that you use the program by using the top menu bar and do your navigation that way and through the little windows on the screen, one gets used to it. But remember, this software wasn't written for Leopard. I had no problem what so ever using it.

Eventhough this is the first time using quickbooks, I am a long time user of Quicken and I expected no less in this product. Actually I downloaded the free version before I purchased this backup copy and I haven't yet opened the box. Although not as full featured as some might want, it seems perfect for sampling and getting started. This product saved me from another brand of software I was struggling with that had a multitude of problems and problematic support. Although I would like to see a few added features such as graphs and charts for the reports and an on-board calendar, this basic program is very capable and has helped me immensely.

I couldn't even get this program to run. Actually, it did run on my Mac under a different username -- one with virtually nothing else installed -- but wouldn't work under my username. Calls to support were useless. I got the usual drone-type replies where they were obviously copying-and-pasting some responses that had little or nothing to do with my problem and generally didn't even relate to my operating system (OS X).
Of course, having opened the product, it was too late to return it. So I was simply out the money on a product that doesn't work at all for me.
Given all this, I think one star is perhaps too much. Under some conditions, the product simply doesn't work at all, and if it doesn't work for you, you will lose your money with no recourse.
